Danger on Deception Island part 1 - Sabotage!

Here's my video walkthrough:

And the following is my written walkthrough! If you haven't read my other walkthroughs, here is a few things you need to know: Italics means that this is an optional action, but typically it is recommended that you do this. Bold means that this is necessary to do, but you should probably do it later (these situations are rare). Underlined means that we are in a new location.

As always, the game starts with a letter. You'll listen to the letter, talk to Katie, and then find yourself...

Below Deck

If you would like to, explore your laptop. It is to the right of the stairs you see in front of you. The DI portal, Anagram buster and mail will be helpful later, but you don't need to look at them now. The journal and task list is for your help through out the game. Senior level detectives won't have the task list.
To the left of the stairs, you can find a faucet. When you click on it, Nancy will point out to you that it isn't working!
After Katie tells you to, open the cupboard below this sink and put the pipes together.
Hint: Start at the pipe at the bottom. It won't work if you start from the top.
Hint: You can rotate by right-clicking.
Hint: You can solve this like a guess-and-check, by checking each pipe to see if it fits with the other pipe.
Here is the solution:

This next location we will also call below deck, since you can't get to it without going through the lower deck.
If you turn around, to the left of Nancy's bunk there are some wooden stairs. Go up them.
Notice all the books on the floor! To the left of them, there is a blue shelf close to the ground. Zoom in on them.
This is one of the book puzzles that you will find in several Nancy Drew games. You must get all the books to fit in the shelf again. There are several ways to do this. A few tips:
Put the longest ones in first, then the biggest. That way, the smaller ones can fit into the little crevices.
Get the books as close together as possible. You want as much room for the other books as possible.
There are multiple solutions: but here is the one the game wants you to get for Senior:

I have only now realized that the Junior solution is different from the Senior one, so I will be doing the Junior solution in my next walkthrough.

Thank you for reading my walkthrough and I hope you truly enjoyed it! If you have any questions about the puzzles, post it in the comments below and I would love to help you! Also, if you have any comments that would be nice, too. I enjoy pleasurable comments. I hope I will be able to post the next one soon!

The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake Review

Alright, here is my second review. This time for The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake.

Plot

Nancy's friend Sally McDonald invites her to come to her new cabin on Moon Lake, but when Nancy arrives Sally is nowhere to be found. She has been scared off by these ghost dogs that sometimes attack the house and you can hear howling every night. They were the dogs of the 20's gangster Mickey Malone who built the cabin Sally is living in. It is said that every time someone new tries to live in the cabin, Malone's hounds come back. They don't want anyone to live in their house. But, Nancy being the skeptical type, doesn't believe that these ghost dogs are real. She learns that Malone was in charge of a gold heist in 1931, and the gold was never found. It is possible that someone is trying to scare Sally off, so that they can find the gold. It's time for a treasure hunt!

I love the plot! You get launched into it quickly and it is very creepy. You even get a little history in there because it talks a lot about Mickey Malone. The plot gets a 10/10.

Suspects/Characters

Emily Griffen is the owner of a store on the west side of the lake named Em's Emporium. She is very friendly, but she is absolutely terrified of the ghost dogs! She sells nearly everything under the sun! She seems to know a lot about the ghost dog legend. Does she know enough to pull off an elaborate ruse?

Jeff Akers is the lone ranger at Moon Lake park. He is very strict and loves enforcing rules. He is always busy and wishes to have an assistant ranger. If the park had ten more acres of land, he would be able to get this assistant, and he had that opportunity, but Sally bought the land before the park did. Could Ranger Akers trying to acquire Malone's cabin as parkland?

Red Knott is a birdwatcher that has a platform not far from Sally's cabin. He is very gruff and doesn't seem to like Nancy very much. If there's anything he wants, it would be to be able to watch birds in peace. He seems to hate tourist because they scare away the birds. Is he trying to get the Malone cabin empty so he can look for birds in peace?

Bess Marvin and George Fayne are again available for calling. Always ready to help and entertain you!

Sally McDonald has left the cabin, but you can still call her. She can give you more information about the cabin and the people that she met. She is terrified by the ghost dogs, but she will help in any way she can.

Vivian Whitmore is Mickey's Malone's old girlfriend. Later in the game, you can call her for more information about Mickey Malone and his dogs. She is a great source of information.

At some point Bess and George will give you Frank and Joe Hardy's number. They are, too, willing to help and entertain you!

The characters were fairly strong, but one of them you don't have as much conversation with. I feel like more situations could have come up that you have an excuse to talk to that person. That person could have been expanded on. So, I'm giving the characters an 8/10.

Graphics

The graphics were fairly good. There were a couple of instances where the graphics was good, but of course it is an older game and not as up to date on the graphics today. I'll give graphics a 7/10.

Snooping

You don't snoop through the suspect's stuff very much, but there is several hidden areas to discover, but no off-limits areas. There wasn't very much snooping if you like snooping. I'll give snooping a 4/10.

Music

The music set the tone well. It is creepy and maybe we could go as far to say it was eerie. And there are a couple of songs with a lighter feel to it, so it doesn't feel terribly dark. The music had somewhat of a variety, and I think it was pretty good. I'll give music an 8/10

Ending

The ending was good, because you are able to find a lot of things which gradually leads to figure out who the culprit is, rather than the culprit just showing up out of the blue. It's very exciting and well thought through. I believe it wraps up things nicely. I give it a 10/10.

Puzzles

In my opinion, the puzzles are fairly easy. There is one though that I don't understand fully to this day. I've tried to figure it out why this is the solution to the puzzle, but I have yet to figure it out. The puzzles could have been a little more challenging, but they are alright the way they are. I give the puzzles a 6/10.

Scare Factor

It was a fairly creepy game. It's been a while since I've played it the first time, which is always creepier when you don't know what's happening. It did freak out some of my friends though, so I'll give it an 8/10.

Overview

This game was a pretty fun game! I enjoyed it and I'm sure many other people will, too. Adding up all my scores together, I gave the game an 8/10 which means it's a really good game! I recommend it to those who enjoy the Roaring Twenties, a good scare and a treasure hunt! I also recommend it to those who don't like snooping very much, but love a good plot and resolution!

The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake - Easter Eggs, deaths and more!

Here's the video I made for both the deaths and the Easter egg:

The Easter egg can be found by calling 555-SOLV or 555-7658. Nancy will start talking and will award you with an Easter egg for guessing that her next game would be Secret of the Scarlet Hand. I've been told that you can use this egg to see special things in the woods, but I haven't checked this out personally.

Here are a list of all the deaths:

The first death is in Sally's house when you walk on the rotten floorboards by the wall, you will fall through them.

The second death is when you are trying to fix the boat. If the screws are not fixed correctly, you will die in a motor boat explosion.

The third death happens only if you don't pick up the life jacket in the boat. If you didn't, Nancy will then drown.

The fourth death happens when you are trapped in the burning shed. If you give up trying to free yourself or seriously mess up, the shed will eventually explode with Nancy in it.

The fifth death is when you get out of the shed, if you don't put out the fire quick enough or you walk in the path to Red's observation platform, the shed will cause a forest fire.

The sixth death is when you open the well without draining the water first. The water will flood the room, instantly drowning Nancy.

The seventh death is when you go into the tunnels without a flashlight. If you continue to move through the dark despite what Nancy says, she will eventually scream for who knows what reason. We can only assume something tragic happened to her. We will never know for sure.

The eighth and final death is the classic escape from the culprit FAIL! If you wander around like a goon, or take too long to figure out what to do, the culprit will eventually catch you and you will die.

More!

There were a few things that I did not do in any of my walkthrough videos.

The first was mentioned above. Wander around the forest with the Easter egg and see what happens.

You can call Bess and have funny conversations with her and George. I believe eventually one time when you call Frank and Joe will be there. They will ask you to call them and talk to them. So there you go a new phone contact!

If anyone knows of anything else, or if I was mistaken in one of the things I said above, don't be afraid to point them out to me. I don't want to confuse the people who read this blog but help them. I hope you enjoyed my video walkthroughs!

The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake part 14

Here's the video walkthrough:

And this is my written walkthrough! Remember: Bold means you can do this either now or later, but you do have to do this at some point. Italics means that it is optional, but it is usually recommended that you do these things. Underlined means that we're in a different location.

Tunnels

In the hallway you opened with the spigot puzzle, go to the map like the one you have in your inventory.
Both maps are grids. Click the squares on the mosaic that correspond with the dogs' names in any order. Like so:

In the tunnel that opens up, notice that the door is locked.
Go up the steep incline at the end of the hall

Hideout

Feel free to explore whatever you want, but you must grab the key that is on the right table!!

Tunnels

Use the key on the locked door.

Wheel Room

Go to the wheels. Notice one is missing.
The missing wheel is to the left of the door on the ground.
Put the wheel on the wheel spot.
Make it work right by putting a screwdriver in the hole by the water level gauge.
Here's how to drain the water:
Turn the wheel closest to the well.
Turn the wheel farthest from the well.
Turn the wheel with the screwdriver.

Well

Notice the puzzle on the wall.
Hint 1: The colors seem familiar don't they?
Hint 2: Maybe it has something to do with Roman Numerals.
Hint 3: What are the first letters of the dog's names?
The answer must be: 50, 10, 05, 01
Junior Solution:
Change the numbers to make them correct from left to right. Eventually, it will be correct.
Senior Solution:
     Make the green 50.
     Make the red 10.
     Make the blue 00.
     Make the yellow 31.
     Make the red 10.
     Make the blue 03.
     Make the yellow 01.
     Make the red 10.
     Make the blue 05.
     Make the yellow 01.
Click the first number in blue until it is 05.
Make the red 12 by clicking the first number.
Make the red 10 by clicking the second number.

Wheel Room

Take the screwdriver out and remove the wheel.

Well

Spin the wheel on the mechanism that you unlocked with the color puzzle.
Notice the gold.
Try to go up the ladder.
Go down into the sewer in the gold room.
Go up the sewer into the ladder room.
Close the door behind the culprit.
Go up the ladder.

That's it!! Thank you for reading my walkthrough and I really hoped you enjoyed. If you have any questions or comments, post them below, and I will try to help you! Unless it's something about how you like my walkthrough. Then I can't help you. Come back for my next walkthrough!

The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake part 13

Here's the video walkthrough:

And this is my written walkthrough! Don't forget - Bold means that you have to do this but not necessarily right now. Italics mean that you don't have to do this, but most of the time it is recommended that you do. Underlined signifies a new location.

Tunnels

Go down into the tunnels. Tip: It doesn't matter which way you go when you get to the fork. Either way,             you'll end up at the speakeasy.

Speakeasy

Click the button underneath the game thing-a-majig. View the picture below:

Look at the picture of Iggy behind the counter - note the color of his collar.
Look at the picture of Vitus by the tunnel entrance - note the color of his collar.
Look at the picture of Xander by the pool table - note the color of his collar.
Look at the picture of Lucy by the fancy door - not the color of her collar.
Go behind the counter and look at the spigots. This puzzle was unlocked by the button.
The Spigot Puzzle Solution:
For each spigot, you must press the spigot, red button below it, press the spigot, press the button, press the spigot press the button. If you do this with each spigot, you will have the correct solution.

Tunnels

If you go to the left after you leave the speakeasy, you will find the tunnel you unlocked on the right.
Go down the hallway until you come to the last dog portrait of Xander - look at it.
If you would like, you can try to find the map that corresponds with Willy's map.

Speakeasy

A little tip: If you go to the fancy door and remove the bar, you can go in and out of the speakeasy           from the cellar.

Moon Lake Park Ranger Station

Go to the database.
Click "History of Moon Lake"
Click "Famous Residents"
Look at the picture of Lucy.

That's it for this walkthrough video! Any questions or comments post below and I will try to help you as soon as possible! Thank you!

Here's the video walkthrough:

And this is my written walkthrough! Don't forget - Bold means that you have to do this but not necessarily right now. Italics mean that you don't have to do this, but most of the time it is recommended that you do. Underlined signifies a new location.

Cemetery

Zoom in on Waldo Mathias' gravestone.
Insert the key above his name.
      Click the first letter 2x
      Click the last letter 2x
      Click the middle letter 2x
      Click the second letter 2x
      Click the first letter 2x
      Click the last letter 2x

After your flashlight goes out, go forward 2x, turn left and click when your magnifying glass turns    red and exit.

Em's Emporium

Ask Emily all options, but specifically ask about flashlight batteries.
The solution for the fish puzzle is fairly easy. The photo is already divided up into the columns for  you and shows you the solution. If you need me to explain further, comment below.

The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake part 11

Here's my video walkthrough:

And this is my written walkthrough! Don't forget - Bold means that you have to do this but not necessarily right now. Italics mean that you don't have to do this, but most of the time it is recommended that you do. Underlined signifies a new location.

Cellar

Read the rest of the journal.
Take the map at the end of the journal.

Moon Lake Ranger Station

Talk to Ranger Akers.
Ask all available conversation. I recommend asking him about Joe, but if you wish to ask all of the conversation options save that one for last.

Graveyard

Use the key in Waldo Mathias' gravestone.

Sally's Cabin

Call Vivian.
Ask all available options but make sure to mention the key not working.

That's it for this walkthrough video! If you have ANY questions, comment on my post. I will respond ASAP and put it in my walkthrough for others. Thank you!
