Danger on Deception Island part 1 - Sabotage!

Here's my video walkthrough:

And the following is my written walkthrough! If you haven't read my other walkthroughs, here is a few things you need to know: Italics means that this is an optional action, but typically it is recommended that you do this. Bold means that this is necessary to do, but you should probably do it later (these situations are rare). Underlined means that we are in a new location.

As always, the game starts with a letter. You'll listen to the letter, talk to Katie, and then find yourself...

Below Deck

If you would like to, explore your laptop. It is to the right of the stairs you see in front of you. The DI portal, Anagram buster and mail will be helpful later, but you don't need to look at them now. The journal and task list is for your help through out the game. Senior level detectives won't have the task list.
To the left of the stairs, you can find a faucet. When you click on it, Nancy will point out to you that it isn't working!
After Katie tells you to, open the cupboard below this sink and put the pipes together.
Hint: Start at the pipe at the bottom. It won't work if you start from the top.
Hint: You can rotate by right-clicking.
Hint: You can solve this like a guess-and-check, by checking each pipe to see if it fits with the other pipe.
Here is the solution:

This next location we will also call below deck, since you can't get to it without going through the lower deck.
If you turn around, to the left of Nancy's bunk there are some wooden stairs. Go up them.
Notice all the books on the floor! To the left of them, there is a blue shelf close to the ground. Zoom in on them.
This is one of the book puzzles that you will find in several Nancy Drew games. You must get all the books to fit in the shelf again. There are several ways to do this. A few tips:
Put the longest ones in first, then the biggest. That way, the smaller ones can fit into the little crevices.
Get the books as close together as possible. You want as much room for the other books as possible.
There are multiple solutions: but here is the one the game wants you to get for Senior:

I have only now realized that the Junior solution is different from the Senior one, so I will be doing the Junior solution in my next walkthrough.

Thank you for reading my walkthrough and I hope you truly enjoyed it! If you have any questions about the puzzles, post it in the comments below and I would love to help you! Also, if you have any comments that would be nice, too. I enjoy pleasurable comments. I hope I will be able to post the next one soon!

The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake Review

Alright, here is my second review. This time for The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake.

Plot

Nancy's friend Sally McDonald invites her to come to her new cabin on Moon Lake, but when Nancy arrives Sally is nowhere to be found. She has been scared off by these ghost dogs that sometimes attack the house and you can hear howling every night. They were the dogs of the 20's gangster Mickey Malone who built the cabin Sally is living in. It is said that every time someone new tries to live in the cabin, Malone's hounds come back. They don't want anyone to live in their house. But, Nancy being the skeptical type, doesn't believe that these ghost dogs are real. She learns that Malone was in charge of a gold heist in 1931, and the gold was never found. It is possible that someone is trying to scare Sally off, so that they can find the gold. It's time for a treasure hunt!

I love the plot! You get launched into it quickly and it is very creepy. You even get a little history in there because it talks a lot about Mickey Malone. The plot gets a 10/10.

Suspects/Characters

Emily Griffen is the owner of a store on the west side of the lake named Em's Emporium. She is very friendly, but she is absolutely terrified of the ghost dogs! She sells nearly everything under the sun! She seems to know a lot about the ghost dog legend. Does she know enough to pull off an elaborate ruse?

Jeff Akers is the lone ranger at Moon Lake park. He is very strict and loves enforcing rules. He is always busy and wishes to have an assistant ranger. If the park had ten more acres of land, he would be able to get this assistant, and he had that opportunity, but Sally bought the land before the park did. Could Ranger Akers trying to acquire Malone's cabin as parkland?

Red Knott is a birdwatcher that has a platform not far from Sally's cabin. He is very gruff and doesn't seem to like Nancy very much. If there's anything he wants, it would be to be able to watch birds in peace. He seems to hate tourist because they scare away the birds. Is he trying to get the Malone cabin empty so he can look for birds in peace?

Bess Marvin and George Fayne are again available for calling. Always ready to help and entertain you!

Sally McDonald has left the cabin, but you can still call her. She can give you more information about the cabin and the people that she met. She is terrified by the ghost dogs, but she will help in any way she can.

Vivian Whitmore is Mickey's Malone's old girlfriend. Later in the game, you can call her for more information about Mickey Malone and his dogs. She is a great source of information.

At some point Bess and George will give you Frank and Joe Hardy's number. They are, too, willing to help and entertain you!

The characters were fairly strong, but one of them you don't have as much conversation with. I feel like more situations could have come up that you have an excuse to talk to that person. That person could have been expanded on. So, I'm giving the characters an 8/10.

Graphics

The graphics were fairly good. There were a couple of instances where the graphics was good, but of course it is an older game and not as up to date on the graphics today. I'll give graphics a 7/10.

Snooping

You don't snoop through the suspect's stuff very much, but there is several hidden areas to discover, but no off-limits areas. There wasn't very much snooping if you like snooping. I'll give snooping a 4/10.

Music

The music set the tone well. It is creepy and maybe we could go as far to say it was eerie. And there are a couple of songs with a lighter feel to it, so it doesn't feel terribly dark. The music had somewhat of a variety, and I think it was pretty good. I'll give music an 8/10

Ending

The ending was good, because you are able to find a lot of things which gradually leads to figure out who the culprit is, rather than the culprit just showing up out of the blue. It's very exciting and well thought through. I believe it wraps up things nicely. I give it a 10/10.

Puzzles

In my opinion, the puzzles are fairly easy. There is one though that I don't understand fully to this day. I've tried to figure it out why this is the solution to the puzzle, but I have yet to figure it out. The puzzles could have been a little more challenging, but they are alright the way they are. I give the puzzles a 6/10.

Scare Factor

It was a fairly creepy game. It's been a while since I've played it the first time, which is always creepier when you don't know what's happening. It did freak out some of my friends though, so I'll give it an 8/10.

Overview

This game was a pretty fun game! I enjoyed it and I'm sure many other people will, too. Adding up all my scores together, I gave the game an 8/10 which means it's a really good game! I recommend it to those who enjoy the Roaring Twenties, a good scare and a treasure hunt! I also recommend it to those who don't like snooping very much, but love a good plot and resolution!

The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake - Easter Eggs, deaths and more!

Here's the video I made for both the deaths and the Easter egg:

The Easter egg can be found by calling 555-SOLV or 555-7658. Nancy will start talking and will award you with an Easter egg for guessing that her next game would be Secret of the Scarlet Hand. I've been told that you can use this egg to see special things in the woods, but I haven't checked this out personally.

Here are a list of all the deaths:

The first death is in Sally's house when you walk on the rotten floorboards by the wall, you will fall through them.

The second death is when you are trying to fix the boat. If the screws are not fixed correctly, you will die in a motor boat explosion.

The third death happens only if you don't pick up the life jacket in the boat. If you didn't, Nancy will then drown.

The fourth death happens when you are trapped in the burning shed. If you give up trying to free yourself or seriously mess up, the shed will eventually explode with Nancy in it.

The fifth death is when you get out of the shed, if you don't put out the fire quick enough or you walk in the path to Red's observation platform, the shed will cause a forest fire.

The sixth death is when you open the well without draining the water first. The water will flood the room, instantly drowning Nancy.

The seventh death is when you go into the tunnels without a flashlight. If you continue to move through the dark despite what Nancy says, she will eventually scream for who knows what reason. We can only assume something tragic happened to her. We will never know for sure.

The eighth and final death is the classic escape from the culprit FAIL! If you wander around like a goon, or take too long to figure out what to do, the culprit will eventually catch you and you will die.

More!

There were a few things that I did not do in any of my walkthrough videos.

The first was mentioned above. Wander around the forest with the Easter egg and see what happens.

You can call Bess and have funny conversations with her and George. I believe eventually one time when you call Frank and Joe will be there. They will ask you to call them and talk to them. So there you go a new phone contact!

If anyone knows of anything else, or if I was mistaken in one of the things I said above, don't be afraid to point them out to me. I don't want to confuse the people who read this blog but help them. I hope you enjoyed my video walkthroughs!

The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake part 14

Here's the video walkthrough:

And this is my written walkthrough! Remember: Bold means you can do this either now or later, but you do have to do this at some point. Italics means that it is optional, but it is usually recommended that you do these things. Underlined means that we're in a different location.

Tunnels

In the hallway you opened with the spigot puzzle, go to the map like the one you have in your inventory.
Both maps are grids. Click the squares on the mosaic that correspond with the dogs' names in any order. Like so:

In the tunnel that opens up, notice that the door is locked.
Go up the steep incline at the end of the hall

Hideout

Feel free to explore whatever you want, but you must grab the key that is on the right table!!

Tunnels

Use the key on the locked door.

Wheel Room

Go to the wheels. Notice one is missing.
The missing wheel is to the left of the door on the ground.
Put the wheel on the wheel spot.
Make it work right by putting a screwdriver in the hole by the water level gauge.
Here's how to drain the water:
Turn the wheel closest to the well.
Turn the wheel farthest from the well.
Turn the wheel with the screwdriver.

Well

Notice the puzzle on the wall.
Hint 1: The colors seem familiar don't they?
Hint 2: Maybe it has something to do with Roman Numerals.
Hint 3: What are the first letters of the dog's names?
The answer must be: 50, 10, 05, 01
Junior Solution:
Change the numbers to make them correct from left to right. Eventually, it will be correct.
Senior Solution:
     Make the green 50.
     Make the red 10.
     Make the blue 00.
     Make the yellow 31.
     Make the red 10.
     Make the blue 03.
     Make the yellow 01.
     Make the red 10.
     Make the blue 05.
     Make the yellow 01.
Click the first number in blue until it is 05.
Make the red 12 by clicking the first number.
Make the red 10 by clicking the second number.

Wheel Room

Take the screwdriver out and remove the wheel.

Well

Spin the wheel on the mechanism that you unlocked with the color puzzle.
Notice the gold.
Try to go up the ladder.
Go down into the sewer in the gold room.
Go up the sewer into the ladder room.
Close the door behind the culprit.
Go up the ladder.

That's it!! Thank you for reading my walkthrough and I really hoped you enjoyed. If you have any questions or comments, post them below, and I will try to help you! Unless it's something about how you like my walkthrough. Then I can't help you. Come back for my next walkthrough!

The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake part 1

Here is my video walkthrough:

And this is my written walkthrough! Tips: (Italics means it is optional) (Bold means it is necessary, but not necessarily right now) (Underlined mean a new location)

Cabin

Zoom into the phone. It is near the middle right of your screen.
Answer it.
Talk to Sally using whatever conversation options you would like.
Notice the creepy noises.
Opposite the phone there is a door. Go outside.

Front Yard

Go forward until something happens.
Talk to Red Knott using whatever conversation options you would like.

That's it for this video! It's a little short and it's only an introduction video, so I didn't have much to say in my written walkthrough for this part. If you have ANY questions, comment on my post. I will respond ASAP and put it in my walkthrough for others. Thank you!

The Treasure of the Royal Tower Review

Here is my first review. Yay!

Plot

You, as Nancy Drew, find yourself in Wickford Castle at Wisconsin. Nancy was ready for a nice, relaxing skiing vacation, but things take an unexpected turn. First, she get snowed in. No one can get in. No one can get out. No one can ski. She then hears about the various acts of vandalism. The library has been torn apart, and when I say torn apart I mean TORN APART. Someone even punched a hole in the wall! Also, the professor in the building claims she had something stolen but she refuses to talk to anyone about it! Something strange is most definitely going on at Wickford Castle. Perhaps it has to do with Marie Antoinette's tower that was imported from France and connected to the building? Maybe there was more to it than superstition that led Ezra Wickford, the builder of the castle, to have mysterious dead ends throughout the castle. It's up to you as Nancy Drew to figure that out!

It is an interesting plot line, but it takes a little bit to shift into gear. I give the plot a 6/10. Yes, I am very strict.

Suspects/Characters

Professor Beatrice Hotchkiss teaches French History and she loves Marie Antoinette! But, many people think she is a real quack. Perhaps because she refuses to come out of her room and she is constantly typing and muttering to herself. Is she plotting something sinister?

Dexter Egan is constantly complaining and doesn't seem very happy. Most of the time, he won't give you a straight answer. He is very closed about himself. Is he trying to hide something?

Jacques Brunais is the French ski instructor at the lounge, who is supposed to be very cute. He seems to have washed down the tubes, as he used to be a professional Olympic skier for France, but at the Olympics he fell flat on his face. He seems to know a lot about the tower's heritage. Is there something he knows that he isn't telling you?

Lisa Ostrum is the very kind magazine writer. She is researching old castles and mansions for an article she is writing and she is dying to get into that royal tower! She is as eager to figure everything out as Nancy is but is there an ulterior purpose for her eagerness?

Bess Marvin and George Fayne are phone friends again in this game! You can always call them for a hint. They are very useful and sometimes funny.

Ned Nickerson, Nancy's boyfriend, is also a phone friend in this game. He gives hints and is very sweet and supportive boyfriend in this game. As always, he is on Nancy's side.

I thought the characters were very well-developed except for one, which I thought could use a little more development. I give the characters an 8/10

Graphics

The graphics weren't the best, but this game was made a fairly long time ago. There were some times when my computer took a little bit to respond when I told it what I wanted to do or when I was showing it a video. I'll give it a 5/10

Snooping

There was definitely snooping. There isn't very much snooping in the suspects' stuff, but there is a little. You do get to go into some off-limits and hidden areas that are very enjoyable to snoop in! I give snooping a 10/10

Music

The music was definitely what I consider classical. It fit the theme of the royal tower well, but I am not a big fan of classical. It is also hard to find many differences between these tracks except for the suspenseful tracks. Half of the suspenseful tracks also seemed very quiet and not easy to catch. I'd give the music a 6/10.

Ending

The ending was surprising, but not exactly in a good way. The ending puzzle wasn't very difficult, but it was tough to figure out what you were supposed to do unless you are a very observant player, which I am not. The culprit's explanation for why they did it was not very good. I'd have liked to have more insight into the culprit's motive. I give the ending a 6/10.

Puzzles

The puzzles were not as challenging as they were just trying to figure out what you're supposed to do exactly. Even when you did know what to do, it seemed a little easy except for one or two puzzles which were very difficult. That creates somewhat of a balance. I'm going to give the puzzles a 7/10.

Scare Factor

There wasn't much of a scare factor. Maybe a little suspense but not enough to make you jump out of your chair. But I don't think this game is intended to be very scary. If you are looking for a scary game, don't get this one. Scare factor gets a 4/10.

Overview

Overall, the game was alright. It's not one of my favorites, but as all Nancy Drew games, I would play it again. Combining all the scores together, I gave the game a 6/10. That means that it was an OK game. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in history, the French Revolution or Marie Antoinette. I would also recommend it do those Nancy Drew fans who enjoy snooping and not much of a scare factor

That marks the end of my first review!!

The Treasure in the Royal Tower - Easter Eggs, Deaths and more!

Here is my video for the Easter Eggs:

There aren't really any Easter Eggs in particular for this game. In place, there are some special numbers you can call. Those numbers are:
        462-2287 or GOCATS
        620-8225 or MCQUACK
        272-2274 or ARACARI

Here is my video for the various deaths in the game:

First death is in the elevator shaft. You die when you try to reach the ladder when you are on the first or second floor.

Second death is the first time you go in the library, when Dexter comes in. If you don't turn back or don't make it back in time, he will catch you.

Third death is when you enter the library with the key. If you don't turn off the alarm or panic and try to exit through the door, Dexter will catch you.

Fourth death is in the room with the guess and check puzzle. If the elevator is on the second floor, there will be weights in front of the puzzle. You press the red button to lift these weights.  If you do not do the puzzle fast enough, you will be crushed by these weights.

Fifth death is when you are locked outside. You eventually freeze to death.

Sixth death is in the Ski Shed. If you start the ski lift without a good purpose, Dexter will catch you. The second time you do it, you will be sent home.

Seventh death is at the end of the game. If you chase the culprit, he/she will get away.

Events

There are some things that you can do that I did not do in my video. Here are those things:

You can look through Lisa's locker. You do this by finding your locker combination in the drawer of your desk in your room. Talk to Jacques after you try to open your locker. Then, try the combo on the different locker he told you to try. Look through Lisa's stuff! This accesses a new conversation between you and Lisa and Hotchkiss and you.

If your alarm is not working, repeat the lights puzzle, because you must have mixed something up.

If you get Lisa mad at you, check your messages circa the knock out.

That's it for this last and final post for my first walkthrough! If you have ANY questions, comment on my post. I will respond ASAP and put it in my walkthrough for others. Thank you!

The Treasure in the Royal Tower part 10

Here's the video walkthrough:

And this is my written walkthrough! Tips: (Italics means it is optional) (Bold means it is necessary, but not necessarily right now) (Underlined mean a new location)

Lobby

Talk to Professor Hotchkiss.

Hotchkiss' Room

On the typewriter desk, read the translation in Marie's journal.
On the upper left corner of the desk, pick up the decoder: Loyalty, Honor and Courage. Those are the        words that were in bold in Marie's journal!

Royal Tower

Zoom into the purple rose of Marie Antoinette's portrait.
Use the spade from the knight we picked up a while back to carve it out.
Grab the thing you find inside. I'll call it the square key.
Zoom into the thing on the floor. We'll call it a chest.
Put the red medallion into the upper left circle.
Put the blue medallion into the upper right circle.
Put the green medallion into the bottom circle.
Put the square key in the square in the middle.
Ask the culprit whatever questions you want.
Press the button we found to the left of the stairs to the Royal Tower.

Listen to the ending letter! Congratulations! You won the game!If you have ANY questions, comment on my post. I will respond ASAP and put it in my walkthrough for others. Thank you!
